Born: Thrissur, Kerala
Images of conflict, power and contemporary history become charged sites of inquiry in the work of T. V. Santhosh, who draws on newspapers, television, cinema and popular visual culture to examine how events are perceived, mediated and remembered. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, specialising in Sculpture, from Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, in 1994, and his Master’s degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda, in 1997.
Through painting and sculptural installation, Santhosh fragments, layers and distorts familiar images, exploring the tension between spectacle and reality and the ways images shape collective understanding. Works such as History Lab and The Elegy of Visceral Incantations exemplify his broader engagement with war, state power, the politics of representation and the construction of contemporary history.
Santhosh has exhibited extensively in India and internationally in solo and group exhibitions. He lives and works in Mumbai.
