Varghese Kalathil (b. 1972, Alappuzha, Kerala) is a painter whose practice engages with social, political, and ecological concerns. Trained in painting through KGTE and higher studies including BFA and MFA, he has develops a regional visual language rooted in Kerala. His works, marked by textured surfaces and a vibrant palette, reflect emotional intensity and critique media, globalisation, and environmental crisis. He has exhibited widely, received the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi grant (2013), and his works are in major collections.
